Lets go underwater!
AQWA, the Aquarium of Western Australia, takes visitors underwater through its iconic ocean tunnel, where fish, octopus, and squids swim overhead. It offers a unique marine experience that lets you admire Western Australia’s sea life up close, creating an unforgettable underwater adventure.

Deep Sea Chill
AQWA’s shark tunnel is one of its most exciting features, letting visitors walk beneath gliding sharks as they move overhead. The aquarium is filled with fascinating marine animals, from fast‑moving squids flashing past your eyes to stingrays sweeping through the water like underwater birds. Schools of fish swirl around you, creating a calm but thrilling deep‑sea atmosphere.
Chill Cove
AQWA offers plenty of relaxing areas, including the Oceanview Café, where visitors can enjoy snacks and take a break with spectacular ocean views. While you unwind, schools of fish, squids, and stingrays swim around the tunnel, creating a calm and lively atmosphere that makes every break feel like part of the adventure.

From Idea To Reality
AQWA first opened in 1988, created by Murray Bransgrove, who wanted everyone to experience Western Australia’s marine life up close. It was built to showcase the state’s coastline and ocean creatures, using a unique underwater tunnel that lets visitors walk beneath the sea. When it opened in 1988, it was called Underwater World, but in 2001 the name officially changed to AQWA.

Why You Should Visit
AQWA is an amazing place to visit if you enjoy discovering marine animals and exploring underwater environments. The atmosphere is stunning, and once you step inside, the views and sea life will leave you truly amazed.
