Early Settlers

Dwellingup was originally established as a timber mill town in the late 19th century, built by saw millers and timber cutters who worked with local hardwoods like Jarrah, Marri and Blackbutt. The township continued to grow as the timber industry expanded, and it was officially gazetted as “Dwellingupp” in February 1910.
